Garbage is picked on one of the three route schedules listed below.
- Route #1 - Tuesday & Friday
- Route #2 - Monday & Thursday
- Route #3 - Monday & Thursday
The hours of pick up is between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Please note the following:
- Refuse from demolished or newly constructed buildings, materials left over from home improvements and remodeling projects relating to existing residence (lumber, paneling, rolled insulating wiring, pipes, plaster, concrete and bricks) are not considered trash and will not be picked up.
- Bulk items (anything other than normal household garbage as otherwise set forth below) are picked up on second garbage day and must be placed at curb no earlier than 5 PM the day before pick up.
- All Recycling is done on Wednesday. Bins are to be left on the curb for recycling.
- No recycling bins may be placed at the curb prior to 5 PM on Tuesday night.
- Please do not place household garbage cans at curb. Village has yard side pickup.

General Guidelines
Car batteries and used motor oil: Collect and turn in to service stations. DO NOT dump used motor oil in sewers or ground.
Corrugated Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard is also recyclable, and must be cut or folded into manageable bundles and tied.
Large Motor Vehicle Parts: Up to sixty (60) pounds, except for junk vehicles, vehicle bodies, engine blocks, transmissions, or motors.
Latex: Only Latex paint cans may be put out for garbage. Must be opened and dried out.
Leaves and Grass: Must be put in biodegradable bags. If put in plastic bags they will not be picked up. Leaves are picked up on an ongoing basis. Use a mulching lawn mower so that there is no need to bag your clippings.
Recyclables: Place bins curbside the night before collection. Bring bins in immediatly after collection. Place newspapers, including all inserts, in newspaper bin. Place glass, plastic, and cans (tin, aluminum, bi-metals) in bin. Keep corrugated cardboard separate from newspaper bin and glass, plastic and cans and bin. Rinse containers to remove all excess food.
DO NOT Place the following in recycling bins; paper bags or plastic bags; light bulbs; china; and porcelain.
Replacement Bins: Available to be picked up at Airmont Village Hall for a fee of $6.00. No Charge To New Residents
Rockland County Dump: Take Route 59 towards Suffern going to Sloatsburg, then just past "Design Air". Closed on weekends. Fee is charged by the pound. Payable by check only.
Tires: Automobile tires will also be picked up only if you obtain a disposal sticker from Village Hall. There is a $5.00 fee per tire. When purchasing new tires you should leave the old ones with the dealer to aviod this expense.
Tree and Tree Branches: Cut into sections less than four (4) feet in legnth with each section weighing not more than sixty (60) pounds, and each section to be bundled and tied.
Twigs: Must be tied in four (4) feet bundle
Directions to the Town Dump
Take Route 59 West to the Main Street in Suffern, (Lafayette Ave.) At the end, make a right, go over the tracks and bare to the left. Approx 2 miles down, Torne Valley Road will be on the right. (Look for Design Air Heating & Air Conditioning) Take Torne Valley Road approx. 2 miles (pass the Torne Valley Sports Complex) Weigh Station is ahead on the right.
