The purpose of the Preservation & Open Space Committee is to provide recommendations to the Board of Trustees that will keep the Village of Airmont a safe and beautiful place to live and play.
The Committee is dedicated to fostering an environment that provides a sense of unity, tranquility, and harmony by maintaining the suburban character of our neighborhoods, and managing development in a mindful way, with respect for and in consideration of the rights and needs of all residents in the Village of Airmont.
The Committee shall work on behalf of the community to achieve objectives that affect quality of life by concentrating on a variety of issues such as, but not limited to, traffic concerns, utilization of open space, safety of community, recreation activities, beautification of the Village and maintenance of property values.
To preserve the atmosphere of the Village of Airmont, the Committee will identify properties for open space acquisition and present recommendations to the Village Board on the acquisition, financing and utilization of proposed properties. These properties are strategically chosen for the purposes of promoting recreational uses, preserving of our natural resources, maintaining natural habitats for wildlife, and preserving sources for water retention.
