With the Fall season upon us and Winter fast approaching, this is an appropriate time for Airmont residents to review the laws regarding keeping fire hydrants clear at all times of all debris and obstructions, including leaves and snow.
Below is copy of the regulations from the Airmont Code:
§ 80-44. Access to fire-protection equipment.
A. The parking of any vehicle within 15 feet of any fire hydrant or Fire Department siamese connection shall be prohibited.
B. No shrubs, dumpsters, or other items that may obstruct the view of and/or access to any fire hydrant or Fire Department siamese
connection shall be permitted.
C. It shall be the duty and obligation of any owner, occupant or tenant of any premises located within the Village of Airmont to maintain a clear and unobstructed path for a radius of 10 feet in every direction from any fire hydrant located on or in front of any premises or within 20 feet of any lot line and to maintain said area clear from all obstructions, including but not limited to dirt, debris, shrubbery and snow.
